What to bring to College Dorms

Being freshman in college can be quite overwhelming with all the pressures and the packing and stuff.  This list is a list of things I find to be essential for a comfortable dorm life. I hope you enjoy some of my tips and tricks for moving into your dorm.

Tips:

-Do not overpack, you don´t need those 50 pairs of shoes in your closet specially because the one you get is likely to be very small. Keep clothing pieces to a minimum and find essential wardrobe pieces so that you can mix and match

-Have a fridge. I found this to be extremely essential specially if you wanna be somewhat healthy, or healthy through out the school year. You can rent one from your school or find really cheap online alternatives.

- Use your comforter as decoration. This applies to girls who like to decorate your room. Your bed is probably the biggest piece of furniture in your dorm so by using a colorful comforter you can completely change the vibe of those boring walls.

- With your roommate arrange what furniture pieces you are bringing and what he/she is bringing so that way you can save up space and probably some money too.

List of essentials:
Bedding:
- Comforter
- Bed sheets at least 2
- Bed skirt
- Pillow cases

Desk:
- Lamp
-Pens /Pencils
-Book
- Corkboard (optional)

Closet:
-Hangers (buy the skinny ones to save space)
- Baskets for storage

Storage:
Below bed storage bins

Kitchen: you probably wont have a kitchen but keeping these things are very useful
- Coffee or tea mug
- Water bottle
- Plate
-Fork/ Spoon

That is it. Those are what I found completely essential to have for my college dorm life years.

How To Deal with Rude Co-Workers

Hello everyone,

We all think that once highschool is over bullying is over as well. However, life is like a big highschool and some people just seem to never grow up. We often find really rude people in the workplace that are willing to criticize your every move, so these are a few tips to not let co-workers, classmates, or people around you affect you.

Story time
I recently got a new job, and all the girls were around my age (20-ish). The girls would criticize everything I did and laugh and whisper things about me. I knew because I remembered how girls used to be in middle school. Anyways, I didn't let it get to me since I was just there for work and not to make any friends. But then, one of my bosses would also start sneak talk about me. So to see a 35 year old man talking about you to employees really started to get to me. They began creating gossips about me and how I had lied in my resume which I didn't. But this was all because my boss instead of acting like the manager he should be, he would stand and talk about me behind my back. When I stood up to him he denied everything and said he would talk to them to clear all confusions.

Anyways, I could not believe that as adults people would still be acting as teenagers. Then I realized that it could always be this way and that there are always going to be rude or hard to work with co-workers hopefully my tips help you.

1. Respect:
As long as you respect your co-workers even though they may be really rude you will always win by showing them respect. They will hopefully realize that how they are acting is wrong or childish. If they are being rude that does not mean you have to be rude as well.

2. Have confidence in yourself
When you show people your insecurities they will use them against you. Have confidence in what you do. And if you do it wrong its okay because everyone is human, just apologize and improve, but continue forward.

3. Have courage
Have courage to stand up for what you believe and what you do. Do not let people step on you.

4. Be the better person
Avoid conflicts and avoid gossipy people wherever you work. If someone gossipy talks to you about another co-worker do not reply to any of their comments as they may later want to use that against you.

I hope some of these tips are useful. Please share below more tips and stories you may have from rude co-workers.

5 Beauty Tips

Hello everyone,

Today's topic is going to be one about beauty. These tips I am going to share are not life changing as they are probably obvious to many. However, most of you don't follow all these tips or do not consider them to be important. I live by these tips so if you have any tips I should follow leave them in the comments below it would be cool if we could all share awesome beauty tips in a safe environment.

1. Take your makeup off.

Every single day. Use a cleanser: if you do not know which one to choose refer to my cleansers blog post to see which one could fit you best. Use a separate makeup remover for eyeliner and mascara. Then use proper moisturizer or serum.

2. Drink water.

I know you don't do this enough. Drink lots of water as it is amazing to your skin. My skin is dry and I can never have enough water. It replenishes skin, gives it vibrancy and that youthful effect.

3.  Avoid rubbing your face.

Try to avoid touching your face throughout the day. Rubbing, scratching, moving and frowning can all lead to premature wrinkles. Also avoid taking your hands to your face as your hands have touched more bacteria, and taking that bacteria to your face is really bad.

4. Use SPF

Do not go for anything less than SPF 30 for daily use. But if you are going to be in sunlight i suggest SPF 50 or higher.

5. Sleep

I should listen to this one. 8-10 Hours of sleep is what you need for your body to fully recover. This means your skin too.

The extra tip:

Pamper yourself: Its always important to feel pampered. Have your nails done, get a facial, even if it is at home. I'll be doing one really soon and I'll be recording. I call this the 'extra girly boost' and I feel it is so important for everyone to have because when I pamper myself I just feel extra special.

Cleansers for YOUR skin?

Hello everyone!

The topic we wil be covering today is going to be cleansers. When I started getting into cleansers, I did not realize how intimidating it can be to choose one for your skin because of the different kinds and brands so I hope this is a helpful guide for you.

Oil Cleansers

Oil Cleansers are great if you are looking to remove your makeup and clean your face all at the same time. Because of its oiliness you can also find that it also removes waterproof makeup. There are also many different types of Oil Cleansers that is okay for many different types of skin, so it really doesn't matter if you have oily skin. It is also very gentle on your skin, unlike scrubs that scratch your skin.

Brands you should try:
Drugstore: Neutrogena, Innisfree, Etude House
Higher End: Shu Uemura, Shiseido

Use:
Daily

Peeling Cleanser

A peeling cleanser's duty is too remove any makeup and excess dirt you may have by peeling your skin. No, it is not painful I thought so too. It is the same as any other cleanser, but it just has a peeling effect. These are not so known on the US, but in Asia this is a big trend and very popular among Koreans.

Brands you should try:

Higher End(only ones I recommend have not tried drugstore): Primera, AmorePacific.

Use:
Can use daily, however I recommend every other day.

Scrubs

A scrub is really very simple. It helps to remove dirt, blackheads, dead skin, etc. Scrubs are best if used two or three times a week as it is harsher for the skin. If used too much it can pull on the skin and create redness and lines.

BEWARE: The scrubs you use for your body should not be used on your face since they are too harsh for it.

I won't recommend a scrub since there are so many and it would really vary on what type of skin you have.

Foam Cleanser

A foam cleanser, cleanses your skin whilst creating foam. I personally don't understand why someone would want foam on their face. It is good for using everyday. If you have drier skin I would not suggest this as it can leave a plastic feeling on your face.

Gel Cleanser

Gel cleansers are preferably used by people with oily skin and it is the basic form of cleanser. It is very easy to find and also cheaper than other cleansers. It can be used daily.

Cream Cleanser

Cream Cleansers are for people who have drier skin because it moisturizes the skin whilst cleansing it.

Dolly Wink Eyeliner Review

This eyeliner is so talked about basically everywhere and when people speak good about eyeliner I am in to try it. In the States getting Dollywink is a bit harder than here in Korea. So, if you are interested in trying it out yourself, I would suggest Ebay or Amazon.

Anyways, this is a review on what I think about the eyeliner and if you have your own post please let me know on comments below.

My first thoughts:
When I first tried it on, I immediately did not like it. It was very liquidy and runny and the color was bleeding all over. The first pigment of the eyeliner was also very light and more on the gray side than black. So I went back to shaking it well just to make sure I had all the color deposited. Tried again, fail. I was so disappointed that the color payoff was not great. Because I tried it on my hand I decided to take it off and the little line would not disappear I was impressed by how it just stuck there. I actually used a scrub to take it out later.

Now that I have had the liquid Eyeliner for over three days it has dried out a bit and the eyeliner is really black. I don't know if I recommend it over my holy grail eyeliner Stila Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, but it stays all day and I barely had any smudging and even though I needed two layers of eyeliner to get my wanted results it did stay on all day.

With no Eye primer.

Swatch in hand

I also like it because of its really thin felt tip brush. It makes doing the outer part of the eyeliner easier.

Let me know what your  thoughts are on this bad boy.

How to Find your Own Fashion Style

Hi everyone!!
I have missed you so much and today I come with a really good topic to talk about: fashion. I am not a fashionista, nor am I very interested in knowing all trends. However, i have learned a few things about how to improve your style by being yourself.
First of all, people need to know their body type a square body, circle body, etc. Look at the image below to identify your body type.

Now that you know what your body type is, you can start researching what could fit you best.
Remember that whatever you wear has to speak for you,  if you dont feel comfortable with what you are wearing you won't feel confident enough. Not all trends, or colors suit everyone so look for what looks best on you and continue.I am a firm believer in the fact that if you look fabulous you will feel fabulous and then your day will go perfectly. Whenever i feel like the day im going to have is going to be long or hard, i dress up. This kind of makes me feel more confident and i take a different approach on a hard day. Maybe it does not make it an amazing day but you will receive a few compliments.
Now onto finding your fashion style.
There is so much inspiration everywhere that even the less artistic person could know what makes them feel inspired and see something they like. Find colors, style cuts that you appeal to and slowly start making changes to your simple style. Stray away from neutrals and reach for colors and patterns.

5 Tips to Start your Day Great!

Hello everyone!!

Hope you have had an awesome week so far. I wanted to share a post on how to start your day great because a lot of times for me it can be a bit of a problem because I always prefer to take those 10 minutes more, which becomes 30 or 40 minutes. Then I have to wake up in a hurry because I didn't get things done.

So these are simple things that will make your life feel more organized and clutter-less.

1. Have a good night sleep: Your body needs a minimum of 6 hours of rest. However, I firmly believe that sleeping for 8-10 hours is better because your body has time to fully regenerate.

2. Have a plan: A lot of times we don't make plans or have a list of things to do. This always leads to staying more in bed and then waking up in a hurry. Make a list of things to do for example: Take a shower, do some yoga, go to school.

3. Get light in: Once you wake up don't keep those curtains closed. Make sure you open them to receive all that good Vitamin D. It is so interesting to see just how sunlight can change your mood and it does help so get that natural light in.

4. Have breakfast: Breakfast is so important and it really defines on how you are going to spend the rest of your day. If you have time to do your makeup, then you have time to eat. Try a green smoothie, omelettes, or yogurt with cereal.

5. Smile and be Polite: Smiling in the morning is very important because it shows what mentality you are going to be at the rest of the day. Just because a day started badly does not mean it has to end up badly.

The extra one:

Be confident: Be confident in how you look, what you do, and always always be confident with yourself.

What are your tips on starting a great day?
Let me know on the comments below.

How to Organize in Small Spaces

Hello Lovelies!!

This video is all about organizing in small spaces. If you  live in a college dorm, are a college student with a budget, or share a roommate you totally understand what I mean. In my room back home, having a walk in closet was so comfortable, but everything changed once I reached college. These tips are awesome if you need space saving in your closet, jewelry and makeup.

Recycle:

Recycling Wine bottles and using them as bracelet holder is a very good way to organize and decorate. Use them for headbands and necklaces too.

Magazines are great decor. Specially in dorm rooms where you can't use nails so using photos and cut-outs from magazines to create collages gives the impression that your room is well put and a bit more interesting and colorful.

Stacking Magazines:

I love my magazines, but once you finish reading them instead of taking them to your bathroom and stacking them opt for stacking them and using them to help display jewelry. As shown below, I use my magazines to create a platform for my makeup and jewelry.

Use what you have:

You don't need extra decor in a small space. Specially because it can create clutter and that is what you don't want at all, right? So if you have a nice perfumebottle display and try to create a balance between all the products by displaying them neatly and kind of messy at the same time.

Use kitchen utensils:

A lot of times kitchen utensils are great for jewelry organizers. The wooden thing you see below is actually a cup hanger but I use them for my bracelets.

For Makeup:
Use lipstick holders: lipstick holders are the best way to display your lipstick. This way you won't forget what lipsticks you have and will be easy to grab if you are on the go. Buying lipstick holders is really easy. I bought mine at The Container Store but you can also get them at Ebay or Amazon.

Hang your brushes
I used to always keep my brushes in a my brush roller, but by displaying them I reach for them more often. I chose to hang them because my small space does not have more space to keep it elsewhere.

Maximize Space:

I use a hanger to put cotton swabs and your brushes. I also use it to put my cameras and some cables. This way it is easier for me to find it later.

What are some of your ideas on space saving and organizing?

Let me know in the comments below. Have a Great day.

The Ten Day YOU Challenge: Day 1

I just found this in the blog world so I really want to do it for ten consecutive days.

Day 1 is Ten secrets:

1. I am a cry baby. What? Yes I am such a cryer that if it depended on me to spill tears for the world to be hydrated no one would be thirsty ever. Okay. Maybe I over exagerate, but I am just a very sensitive person even though I have a very tough skin. I cry in movies, books, stories, fights, etc.

2. Apparently, I like to chew when I sleep. I do not know what I am chewing, but I am chewing and everyone who has seen me sleep mentions it the next day.

3. I am very motherly. People peg me to be very independent, crazy or weird. Never motherly.

4. I have been hurt by so many friends. I don't believe in friendship. WHAT? Yes, that is a long story.

5. I have studied in 7 different schools in my whole life.

6. I tilt my head when typing. Yes I do it a lot. Yes, I am doing it right at this moment. LOL

7. My nail beds are really strong

8. I overthink things.

9. I am deadly scared of earthquakes or Tsunamis. Scared to death.

10. I cannot drink milk. I hate it.

Jessica Alba: Golden Globes

Last year this time was when I started my blog. One of my first post was actually on all the Golden Globes fashion. I love watching these award shows because every celebrity dresses up and it basically becomes a war of who is wearing what best. I do not want to do a in depth look on who my favorite celebrities were. I just want to focus on one person only.

The godess of beauty, she is so pretty, that it is so unfair for us. This is one of my favorite celebrities Jessica Alba. She is a beautiful mother and actress who looked fiiinee on the award shows. Lesbihonest, who does not have a girl crush on her?

I want to start with her makeup. Jessica is wearing very simple makeup on the eyes. Probably a brown palette and bronzer. Her main focus was on the lips with a Orange- Red lipstick that makes her face glow and her dress too. She usually always goes for simple makeup which I love, but in this case she had to so she would not overpower that gorgeous jewelry she has on her neck..

I do not think she could have picked a better dress than this one. I love the salmon mermaid-esque dress she is waring and it looks overall great on her body.

So Jelly.

Who was your favorite celebrity on the red carpet?

Current Skincare Routine: Winter 2013

Hi Everyone!

How was your weekend?

Mine was really bad actually. On Friday I woke up and was feeling really drowsy  I did not understand why so I just stayed in bed all day long. At night, I finally got some energy to go get some dinner with my boyfriend. We had suundubujigue a very traditional Korean dish. On Saturday, I felt so much better went to the gym, and then my bf and I had plans with my cousin to go to dinner for Sunde(Korean Street sausage). Apparently she was with a really bad cold which transferred to my body like a sticky note. On Sunday I woke up bad again, but it got even worse. I had a runny nose, fever, and was not feeling at all well. My boyfriend ended up taking care of me. To top it off, I puked in the middle of the night. So it was not a good weekend after all. How about YOUR weekend? Was it better than mine? I really hope it was because being sick specially on weekends suck.

Anyways, to move on from the chit chat I want to mention some amazing products I have been using for winter, and essentially my winter skincare routine.

Disclaimer: I want to let you guys know that my skin type is dry- very dry skin. During summer it becomes normal but not completely. I mention this because products that may work for me, may not work for you. I have also tried products and researched them on other bloggers who I know for a fact have oily or combination skin.

Cleanser:

I am still using my Avene Milk Cleanser. It is a good overall face wash for dry skin. However I have been using a new cleanser which is an oil based cleanser. This is the Innisfree Green tea Oil Cleanser. It is Amazing for really dry skin, it is very moisturizing while cleansing and not too thick to the point where your pores can not breath and you find that there is a lot of oily residue left. Unfortunately, this is going to be hard for me to get once I go back to NY so I am really sad, and will have to find a dupe or sneak 3 or 4 bottles in my luggage.

Moisturizer:

Moisturizers, or in my case, my skin best friend are an absolute must for me. I would probably not survive winter if this product did not exist.

My current most used moisturizer is the Clinique Moisture Surge Intense. Do you see why I highlight the intense? Because I also have the Clinique Moisture Surge, but they are nothing alike really. My boyfriend who has really combination to oily skin loves to use this during winter, but when he tried my Moisture Surge Intense he said that he felt he had a mask on. On my skin, this moisturizer works wonders because it absorbs it really quickly and it is heavy enough to keep me moisturized during a full day or full night.

Use: Everyday and every night

Scrub

Scrub is really important for everyone, but it becomes extra important for me during winter because of my dry skin. I have not tried more than two scrubs, but I really like L'occitane's Cream scrub, because it feels creamy and not overpowering. I love the consistency and how it does not peel my sensitive skin.

Use: 2 to 3 times a Week depending on how patchy my skin feels.

Essence:

Essence are really popular in Korea right now. It is really similar to a toner but with a slightly more like a serum. It is packed with all types of vitamins that are good for your skin and I am all about that.
I am currently using the SKII Essence. And it does a good job at purifying and toning my skin. I am not THAT impressed as I wished because of the price, and I feel like there are so much better ones.

Use: Before moisturizer at night.

Face Makeup Remover:

I have not heard one person use this product and not love it. The Bioderma Solution Micellaire is AMAZING and I love using this after cleansing my face with water. It removes any soap that may have stayed from before and soothes my skin. It has won multiple awards in Korea as best makeup  remover and a lot of bloggers and youtubers rave about it.

Best of 2012: Beauty

Hello everyone!

This is a video I posted several days ago and I wanted to do a very in depth review of each and one of them in my blog. It is very hard for me to find time to sit down and write, but honestly makeup is a passion of mine and I feel like this blog is a way for me to at least put my toes inside the industry. Its not about companies contacting me or anything it is just my way of discovering if this is truly who I want to be, professionally, of course. Anyways, I want to put a disclaimer that the products I mention are truly and sincerely the best products I have tried in 2012 and will continue to use in this new year.

Disclaimer: I want to let you guys know that my skin type is dry- very dry skin. During summer it becomes normal but not completely. I mention this because products that may work for me, may not work for you. I have also tried products and researched them on other bloggers who I know for a fact have oily or combination skin.

BB Cream:

For BB cream, or Blemish Balm I chose Banila Co. BB cream. It is almost impossible to know which bb cream suits you best with so many different brands that carry  lines and types of bb creams that it is near to impossible to find one that will suit you. I found this one through this tv program called Get it beauty and they were mentioning the best of bb creams and ranking them. The number one bb cream according to them was Tony Moly bbcream, so I immediately ran out to buy it. I have to say it was a good bb cream but I feel like it didn't give enough coverage and moisture which is what I look for in all my products. I then bought Let me touched (weird name right? lol) and the kind of moussy, but creamy texture just captured my attention and loved immediately.

Reasons I love:
-Very moisturizing
- To get glowing and dewy skin
- Medium to full coverage
- Stays all day

Cons:
- Pricey in comparison to other bb creams

Concealer:

Concealer is honestly my bestie. I have panda eyes if not for concealer. It is so sad that when I do not wear concealer everyone ask me if I'm okay because I look really tired. Sad. I know. LOL

Erase Paste:

Reasons I love:
-It is a salmony color (Salmon- Orange- Yellow cancel out Purple and blue) I could do a whole other post on this.
- Full coverage

Cons:
- Again the price
- It is kind of sticky, but if you use an eyecream its gonna be easier to blend

Innisfree Concealer Stick:

Reasons I love:
- Compact and easy to use
- Easy to blend
- Moisturizing
- I have never used a stick concealer that was so creamy as that one.
- Cheap

Cons:
- Korean makeup is always harder to find in US

Highlight:

Soft and Gentle-MAC

Reasons I love:
- Gives you glowy skin without overdoing it
-Can use in different parts of face (cupids bow, cheekbones, eyeshadow, nose)
- A lot of product

Cons:
- Since I purchased this in Korea I would say the price is really high.

Blush:

Coralista- Benefit

Coralista from benefit is probably the best blush ever made. This is the first blush I truly have fallen for ever since the first time I tried it at Sephora.

Reasons I love:
- Smells amazzzzinggg
- Great pigmentation
- Coral-gold
- Great for skintones like mine NC25
- Not to overwhelming

Cons:
- Price

Grapefruit Jelly- Etude House:

Reasons I love:
- Pink/coral color for very natural looks
- Good pigment
-Cheap
-Great everyday blush

Lips:

Apricot Stick- Etude House

Reasons I love:
-Moisturizing
- Kind of like a lip balm with a lot of pigment
- Love the coral/pink
- A pretty everyday color
-Really cheap

Cons:
- Harder to find

Pink Beige- Peripera

Reasons I love:
- Great for smokey looks, nude lips
- Pigmented
- Not deadly looking
- Stays on really well

Cons
- A bit expensive 15,000 won or 14 dollars

MCR 342- Shu Uemura

Reasons I love:
- Matte
-Amazing pigment

Cons:
-Expensive

Mascara

Lash Blast Waterproof - Covergirl

Reasons I love:
- It does not smudge
- Very black
- Lengthens
- Curls
- Stays all day long
- Volumizes
- Cheap

Bottom Lash Mascara- Clinique

Reasons I love:
- Separates bottom lashes
- Volumizes

Eyeshadow Palettes

Dolly Wink - Brown eyeshadow quad

Reasons I love:- Very pigmented

- Not too shimmery (I personally do not like shimmery eyeshadows)
- Compact (easy to carry and use)

Naked Palette 1- Urban Decay
Reasons I love:
-Easy to use
-Great mix of shimerry and matte shades
- Favorites: Sin and buck

Eyelash Curler

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Reasons I love:
- Great Quality
-Sturdy
- Curls really well

Eyeliner

Milani LiquifyReasons I love:
- Creamy
- Blends well
- Stays on for a long time

Stila Liquid EyelinerReasons I love:
- Very pigmented
- Good wand
- Waterproof
- Stays for six hours without smudging on me

Banila Co. Waterproof pencils
Reasons I love:- Creamy
-Waterproof
- Easy to use

That is all for today have a great day.
